Educational Philosophy
As a professional educator, I provide each and every one of my students with an equal and appropriate education, while meeting four essential principles. First, I offer my students a learner-centered environment that promotes hands-on learning, class participation, social development, and group activities. I believe that encouraging students who are different in abilities, knowledge, and/or personalities to interact and contribute to each other’s growth is an important component to the learning process because it increases the acceptance, respect, and valuing of individual differences. Second, I teach my students the skills necessary to become life-long learners. Helping students to extend their learning beyond this day, this month, or this year is monumental in helping students to continue to become further educated throughout their lives. Third, I aim to make the material that is learned in the classroom relevant to the students’ lives outside of the classroom. A curriculum is only as important as it is relevant and practical to the students’ everyday lives. Finally, I utilize technology in a manner that encourages and facilitates life-long learning and self-sufficiency, so that my students will be able to attain and retain the skills necessary to reach their optimal potential. I incorporate each of these principles into my daily teaching practice to ensure that my students can experience the well-rounded and influential education necessary to meet the challenges of the future and be productive in every phase of their lives.
